Designer Outlet Center, Landquart (Switzerland)
The Designer Outlet Center in Landquart in the Chur area (Canton of Graubünden) opened its doors to the public on November 26th, 2009. The Outlet Center, built in the “village style”, offers an exciting shopping experience with its 21,000 square meters of retail space in over 100 shops, restaurants, Cafés and with 1,200 parking spaces. Due to the central location with its supra-regional relevance (CH, D, FL) the outlet is easily reachable by either the nearby motorway exit or by train, whereby the center is directly connected with an underground pedestrian access to the adjacent “Landquart” train station.
The property stretches across the boundaries of the two politically independent towns of Igis and Zizers. This resulted in a complex and challenging land and building entitlement process with both communes, besides the challenges with environmental agencies and nature protectionist groups.
After the development process was finalized and soon after having received the final building permit an internationally organized institutional Real Estate Investment Fund bought the project in order to realize it on its own. MIAG however, accompanied the project as consultant until its successful completion.
